Coach Omar and his entire staff are child-whisperers. The kids ADORE them, the classes are both instructive and fun, and the inclusive, cheerful environment that the coaches create make the parents as happy as the kids.

Coach Omar’s love of the game, compassion for coaching kids, and his desire to excel are a winning combination for helping kids develop the fundamentals of basketball and all sports. Because Coach Omar stresses the fundamentals, his players learn to think the game and to play the game the right way. Coach Omar understands the purpose of practice and game time—to help each kid get to the next level. Kudos to Coach Omar!

After a great season with Coach Omar, my basketball skills had improved considerably. However, it was through the course of several one-on-one training sessions with him that my shooting, ball handling, and post moves were taken to the next level. His focus on the fundamentals of basketball were key to my growth as a player.

The main thing I appreciate as a parent is that Coach Omar coaches with a smile, good humor, and infectious enthusiasm. As a youth basketball coach, Omar clearly loves basketball and enjoys coaching and kids. The kids work hard, learn new skills, definitely improve, but they do it in a way that lets them have fun, love the game, and feel proud of their accomplishments and improvements. Through two years, every coaching session with Coach Omar ended with a smile and a handshake and some very specific example of the one or two things my son had done well at during that hour. Coach Omar’s personal qualities are unique, and appreciated, gifts in a youth coach!

Our athletes are always working hard and having fun. Here are our favorite moments from Summer 2017.

I’m not sure there is a better instructor in the mid-atlantic to teach kids to swim. We are 2-2. Thanks Coach Omar!

And a huge thanks to you and Coach T for all your help this season. You really improved and elevated the boys’ game. It was a disappointing end to the season - but gives them something to strive for next year!!!
— Jill Smith of Washington D.C.
The kids had a blast on Friday. As always, you guys were amazing!

My kids excel on all of their sports teams because of the foundation the Fundamentals Academy sets in the fundamentals of all sports. Their coaches really engage the kids in every class and their activities are great for the development of young kids. My kids and I love Fundamentals Academy!
— Sasha Adams of Washington D.C.
My daughter took once weekly one-on-one basketball lessons with Omar who previously coached her team. During these lessons Omar focused on the fundamentals of shooting and ball handling technique, as well as many other aspects of the game. My daughter benefited tremendously from this experience and it definitely had a positive impact on her game. As she said herself, ‘I owe my shot to Omar’.

Through having Coach Griffin as a Basketball coach, I have seen my skills on the basketball court make a drastic improvement. He’s a supportive coach who always knows what drills will benefit you the most. I strongly recommend training with Coach Omar for any serious basketball player who is hoping to develop their skills to the maximum potential.”

I can’t say enough good things about The Fundamentals Academy. It is terrific. Coach Omar has great character and above all, he is a great motivator. He provides hands-on basketball guidance on the court as well as life off the court. I highly recommend him to anyone.
